Back from Madrid, from the International Soundpainting ThinkTank, a conference dedicated to the art of live composition, with 25 incredible musicians, dancers, actors and visual artists from all around the world.
Soundpainting is a universal multidisciplinary live composing sign language for musicians, actors, dancers, and visual Artists. Presently (2023) the language comprises more than 1500 gestures that are signed by the Soundpainter (composer) to indicat
e the type of material desired of the performers. The creation of the composition is realized, by the Soundpainter, through the parameters of each set of signed gestures. The Soundpainting language was created by Walter Thompson in Woodstock, New York in 1974.
What a joy and privilege to be among such wonderful artists and human beings, learning from the vast, rich artistic world of each of them.
Truly a week of pure creative energy, love and innovation led by the brilliant Walter Thompson, whom I’m proud to call my teacher, mentor and my friend.
This was made possible by the kind support of the Israeli Embassy in Spain Cultura Buzz and Cultural attaché Sapir Efron, who supported the participation of Israeli Soundpainter Matan Dascal and myself.
More Soundpainting news to come very soon- performances, workshops, and more exciting news!
